Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 1st February 1922 in which the following was discussed: the Director made a statement on the number of days he had spent in Ireland, pertinent to byelaw no. 9. The Director informed the board that the Lane Estate had been wound up and the residuary estate audited by Chartered Accountants. The audit on the income account for the Lane fund was organised. The Director read his annual report for the year 1921. Due to the changes in Government in Ireland, the Director had called in the various loans of pictures to public officials that had been authorised. The board approved the purchase of a portrait of Mrs Conyngham by George Chinnery [NGI 837]. A "Country Scene" by Erskine Nichol was exhibited for purchase and refused, and a drawing by Wheatley was also refused. A portrait of Admiral Ommaney by Benjamin West was approved for purchase [NGI 838]. The cost of framing the Hone Bequest was to be considered at a later meeting.
