Description
Minutes of board meeting held on 1st June 1921 in which the following was discussed: the Director gave the board more information regarding the Lane fund and reported on the opening of the Hone exhibition. The board authorised the purchase of a picture, "The Ferry Boat" [NGI 832]. They declined the purchase of a picture entitled "Madonna and Child." The board accepted the presentation of a painting by James Torrence entitled "Jessie on a Farm" [NGI 833]. They also accepted the donation of a portrait of Lord Anglesey. A death mask of Sir Frederick Burton was not accepted as the Gallery already had three of his portraits.
