Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 2nd February 1921 in which the following was discussed: the Director read his annual report for 1920. A communication was heard from Messers Bird and Bird in regards to the Lane fund. A communication was also heard from the Under Secretary at Dublin Castle about changes in administration as a result of the Government of Ireland Act. It was agreed that artwork by the late Joseph Watson was not suitable for the Gallery. A portrait of Miss Jane Simmonds and her horse was offered to the gallery but was deemed unsuitable. A "Wooded Landscape" by Wheatley was declined by the Gallery due to lack of space. "Richard Jones (1778-1851), Actor and Playwright, as Goldfinch in Holcroft's 'The Road to Ruin" [by James Dowling Herbert, NGI 2723] was offered for purchased but a decision was deferred until the seller named his price.
