Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 4th December 1918 in which the following was discussed: the board approved of two possible designs for the corporate seal to be submitted to the Deputy Master of the Mint. It was decided that the Portrait of President Wilson should return to the Gallery and the Director was instructed to ascertain a price American publishers would pay to have the rights to print reproductions of the portrait in their newspapers. A picture by Alejo Fernandez was agreed for purchase at £1000 ["The Holy Family with St. Anne", NGI 818]. The purchase of a picture by Guardi for £231 was also approved [NGI 819]. It was resolved that 10 shillings should be offered for the engravings of Esther Kavanagh. The Director's report for the year 1918 was read and the estimates for the following year were submitted and approved, with a recommendation that Mr Stephens' salary be increased.
