Description
Minutes of board meeting held on 16th September 1907 in which the following was discussion: two landscapes bequeathed, one accepted, one returned. Three gifts accepted. Mr Stoker brought the attention of the board to the offer for sale of a pencil portrait of Dean Swift by Isaac Whood [NGI 2614]. The Director was authorized to purchase it for £50. Discussion of the Milltown collection and the alterations requested by Lady Milltown. In a telegram, Lady Milltown objects to the opening of the Gallery that she had read about in the Irish Times. The board reply the opening does not preclude further alteration. Mr Lanphier informs the board by telegram that Lady Milltown regards this as 'a matter of extreme gravity'. A five point letter was drafted to respond to Lady Milltown.
