Description
Minutes of board meeting held on 26th August 1907 in which the following was discussed: five paintings listed as purchased and a gift from Edgar Vincent accepted. Jonathan Hogg [NGI board 1897 to 1928] reappointed to the board. A long letter is read summarising Lady Milltown's impressions from her recent inspection of the collection. Lady Milltown 'is of the impression that the National Gallery have mismanaged the collection from the very start'. The Directors draft a letter undertaking to make arrangements in accordance with the wishes of Lady Milltown. The Director instructed to open the Galleries to the public forthwith and to arrange with the Police Commissioner that there be a constable present.
