Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 6th December 1916 in which the following was discussed: the board decided to create a catalogue of the books in the Art Gallery, and the estimates for the year 1917-1918 were approved. They agreed that certain pictures in the Gallery should be varnished. It was resolved that the Director should acquire nominations for a sitter to be painted by Mr John Sargent ["Woodrow Wilson" NGI 817]. The Director was also instrcucted to deal with an issue with the Ireland Revenue Authorities. It was agreed that the Director should take whatever steps necessary to follow through on the wishes of the late Sir Hugh Lane in regards to the modern pictures bequeathed in his will. The board express their thanks to the Director of his gift of a portrait of Thomas Moore to the Gallery [NGI 775].
