Description
Minutes of board meeting held on 23rd May 1906 in which the following was discussed: the Director's report on the Milltown Collection forwarded. Four typed sheets are pasted into the minute book, similar to A4 size. The Director observes the complete collection has been received as well as many items not originally included. The Director comments that the extra pictures are undesirable and some rendered 'fully unacceptable' due to 'some process of cleaning'. Many of the backs have been painted yellow 'for some reason not easy to divine'. There is a complete list of what was originally accepted. The grand total delivered is 209. The Director goes on to report that the additional material of books and silver is of little merit. He concludes that the wing of the Gallery provided for the purpose of displaying the Milltown Collection will serve its purpose well for the originally selected material and no more. The Director was instructed to communicate the report confidentially to the Under Secretary of the Lord Lieutenant. The Director was instructed to make a provisional for the display of the originally selected pictures.
