Description
Minutes of board meeting held on 23rd April 1906 in which the following was discussed: the Director presented his report for 1905. Three page list of purchases with prices and donations recieved in 1905. No final attendance figure noted. A miniature of Richard Burke advertised for sale in Bennets Auction Rooms is identified as the same work stolen in 1880 from the Gallery. It is agreed to purchase it for £20 [NGI 297?]. Lengthy correspondence between Mr Lanphier and the board relating to details and conditions of the Milltown Collection. The Director requested to draw up a report on the 'state and nature' of the collection. Discussion about the will of George Frederic Watts.
