Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 24th May 1916 in which the following was discussed: the conditions of the appointment of Mr R. Langton Douglas, to which he agreed upon and was then appointed Director of The National Gallery, effective from 3rd June. The board were also presented with a letter from the Treasury Solicitor, forwarded by the Chief Crown Solicitor, regarding the estate of the late Hugh Lane and the pictures he had in his possession. The board conveyed their sympathy to the Royal Hibernian Academy as they had suffered the destrcution of their academy house and much of its contents during the rebellion.
