Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 26th January 1916 in which the following was discussed: a letter was received by the board in which the Lord Commissioner of the Treasury suggested that the Registrar should continue as acting Director for the next year. Any advice needed in terms of bequests could be received from the directors of London Galleries, the National Protrait Gallery and the Wallace Collection were closed due to the War, and either director would be happy to assist. If the board were to accept this, the salary of the Registrar for 1916-1917 would be £100, and the Clerk's £150, which would bring the estimate down to £1845. The board accept this and ask that they are still allowed to seek a new, permanent Director at the reduced salary offered by the Treasury.
