Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 8th September 1904 in which the following was discussed: the purchase of a portrait of James Quinn, by Gainsborough , which had been on loan to the Gallery for some time was approved. The purchase of a sketch portrait of Chief Justice Whiteside by Mr J.B. Yeats [NGI 2575] was also approved. The board also accepted gifts donated to the Gallery, namely "Portrait of Lady Pamela Fitzgerald" by A. de Brie, after Mallary [NGI 568] and a miniature portrait of a lady by Adam Buck, offered by Mr Hugh P. Lane [NGI 2555]. Two portrait miniatures by Clementina Robertson, along with the painting desk formerly used by Charles Robertson, were donated by Mr E. Stanley Robertson. The Director informed the board that they had not received any communication relating to the Milltown Gift since January last, and the board therefore agreed that a letter, copied in the minutes, would be written to the Under Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant investigating this.
