Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 19th December 1901 in which the following was discussed: the Lord Lieutenant issued a letter reappointing Viscount de Vesci and the Rt. Hon. Gerald Molloy to the board for a further five years. He also appointed Sir William Thornley Stoker to the board [served 1901 to 1912], filling the vacancy left by the resignation of Mr Charles Townshend. R.S. Longworth Dames [served 1901 to at least 1914], was also appointed to the board, filling the vacancy left by the passing of the Earl of Arran. The board approved a list of artwork purchased. There is also a list of gifts offered to the Gallery and accepted by the board, and the estimate submitted for the year 1902-1903 was aproved. The board sanctioned the loan of some pictures to the Royal Academy in London, namely "Portrait of a Violinist" [NGI 470] by Filippino Lippi and "Judith with the Head of Holofernes" by Andrea Mantegna [NGI 442].
