Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 2th November 1900 in which the following was discussed: the Director informed the board that the Turner drawings bequeathed by Henry Vaughan had been received, and read a letter from the executors of Vaughan's estate, which stated that the Gallery should not claim drawing no. 16 as its own property, which the board agreed to. The Director announced that the late Miss Margaret Stokes had bequeathed drawings and sketches to the Gallery. The late Sir Henry Barron stated in his will that the Gallery had the right to choose 10 pictures of which he might have possession at the time of his death. The Director read a letter from the National Portrait Gallery in London in regards to an exhibit of the works of the late Sir Francis Burton. The Director also submitted some purchases to the board, and gave the estimate for the year 1901-1902, which were approved. Mr Charles Townshend resigned from the board due to ill health, his replacement to be confirmed by the Lord Lieutenant, and the Royal Hibernian Academy elected a new President, Sir Thomas Drew, who gained a seat on the board. The Lord Lieutenant appointed the Earl of Arran to the board.
