Minutes of a board meeting held on 9th August 1900 in which the following was discussed: a list of purchases approved and their price. A list of gifts that were also approved by the board. The Under Secretary of the Lord Lieutenant conveyed to the board the situation with the Countess of Milltown, as due to some paragraphs in the Irish papers, she feels as though the contents of her donation to The National Gallery had been criticised. The Lord Lieutenant had drafted a letter to the Countess and offered the board the chance to associate themselves with this letter by way of apology.
