Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 20th November 1873 in which the following was discussed: the Director had obtained a painting from Milan for £150, which was due to be paid in April 1874. A picture by Paul Potter was also approved for purchase at £28. The Director also sought permission to buy more paintings for The Portrait Gallery, and submitted a sketchbook for approval. The board declined the offer of donation of a bust from a private individual. Viscount Powerscourt submitted a portrait ["Portait of an Old Lady" by Jan Maurits Quinkhard [NGI 238]] to which the board approved.
