Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 12th July 1869 in which the following was discussed: correspondence between the Director and the Trustees of The National Gallery in Trafalgar Square in which they agree to loan The National Gallery of Ireland pieces of art under certain conditions. Two purchases made by the Director, "Madonna" and "St. John and the Lamb." A letter was also received stating that Sir Thomas Alfred Jones had been elected President of the Royal Hibernian Academy, and could therefore no longer serve on the board of The National Gallery of Ireland, a gap which the Royal Hibernian Academy would fill.
