Description
Minutes of board meeting held on 21st January 1857 in which the following was discussed: Mr Mulvany's 8 page report on his trip to London to inspect the paintings available from the London Gallery was read. Mr Mulvany outlines the details of numerous paintings with assigned numbers. The board state they are prepared to accept the paintings detailed and arrangements should be made. The board recommend that a communication be made to the Treasury that the acceptance of these paintings does not mean they are abandoning their ongoing claim for a grant of public money to aid the establishment of the Irish Gallery.
