Download: view IIIF manifest
Description
Depicts a blacksmith standing by a horse who is bent over to look at three children playing beside him. He has a horseshoe and tools by his feet. "Aye, and if horses could only wear out their shoes at the same rate as your young limbs wear out yours – I’d be a mighty man soon" is written below the scraperboard.
