Description
Material used for a presentation on Guercino by Denis Mahon. Comprised of photographs and handwritten notes. Also includes a file on the conservation of "Saint Joseph with the Holy Child," by Guercino from conservator Matthew Moss. Many of the prints contain annotation on the verso, as well as various stamps from numerous photographic studios and institutions including; Fotofast Bologna, Foto Ardizzoni Cento, A. Villani and Sons, Les Archives Photographique d’Art et d’Histoires, Augusto Pedrini, Alinari, Gabinetto Fotografico Nazionale Roma, A.C. Cooper, Archivie Fotograf Geil Mus Vaticani, Laboratorio Ricerche Scientifiche Brera Milan, the National Gallery, the National Gallery of Ireland, Hermitage Museum Leningrad, the Art Institute of Chicago and City anf County of San Francisco M.H. De Young Memorial Museum. The artworks in this file were found in various cities and institutions, including; the Margaret Oakes Foundation, Walter Art Gallery Baltimore, David M. Koetser Gallery New York, Musée dei Rouen, Musée de Toulouse, Musée del Castello Milano, Chiesa del Rosario and Palazzo Rosso. The cities they were photographed in include; Dresden, Krakow, Rimini, Parma, San Sebastian, Modena, Vienna, Windsor, Genoa, Firenze, Palermo and Bologna. The paintings represented within this file include, by Guercino; "Jacob Blessing the Sons of Joseph" (NGI 4648), "The Madonna and Child with Saint Joseph and a Music Making Angel," "The Prodigal Son," "The Resurrected Christ Appears to the Virgin," "Portrait of Cardinal Bernardino Spada," "Martyrdom of St John and St John," "Madonna of the Rosary with St Domenic and St Catherine of Siena," "Saint Joseph with the Christ Child" (NGI 192), "Angelo Custode," "Visione di San Girolamo," "Anna, la Madre di Maria," "Il Padre Eterno," "San Francesco," "Les Saints Protecteurs de la Ville de Modène," "The Vision of St Bruno," "Sant'Antonio di Padova con il Bambino Gesù," "Susanna and the Elders," "Sposalizio mistico di Santa Caterina," "Madonna della Benedizione," "Albertina," "Sibilla Samia," "San Giovanni in the Desert," "Entombment," "Samson and the Honeycomb," "Abraham Casting out Hagar and Ishmael," "St Palatias and St Laurentia," "The Vision of St Teresa," "Madonna in Gloria Adorate di San Lorenzo, Reggio" and "Crucifixion."
